I’ve known a couple of people in the industry who think nothing of living remotely and commuting on a two hour flight to get to their home base for assignments. It’s much ado about nothing.

Yep my sister was a 39 year Delta / Western flight attendant whom retire in 2020. For a number of years she was based out of Atlanta but lived in San Fran. She and about 10 others split the rent on a two bedroom Atlanta apartment. Rarely were there more than 2 or 3 of the Flight attendants in town for layovers to fight over the two bedrooms. Usually the work week was 3 or 4 days. Fly home from Atlanta for a 3 or 4 day weekend. Finally she was able to transfer to LAX making life much nicer.

I suspect they don’t have to find parking, wade through TSA, and wait in the boarding area like the rest of us. That turns a ‘normal citizen’s’ two hour flight into a 4-5 hour experience.
