I had been going to Las Vegas for years. Up until about maybe 15-20 years ago, it was always a cheap vacation. I remember taking airplane flights out of Logan Airport in Boston for $49. Those were the days of People's Express and other discount airlines. Once in Vegas, you could get a hotel room for practically nothing as they just wanted to draw you into their casinos. Buffets were very cheap as well (and had decent food). Again, they wanted to get you fed quickly and back out to the casino floor.

Now you are overpaying for everything. Even the self-park garages are starting to charge fees.

The slots are getting very tight as well. If you stick to the penny and nickel slots, it is almost impossible to get a decent jackpot and even on the penny slot, the minimum bet (to get a jackpot) is around $3 a spin.

I live in Connecticut now and will go to the Mohegan Sun from time to time. That's a decent experience. But the nearby Foxwoods is sort of run down and a haven for elderly bingo players that show up in those big buses. Sort of a drab place.
