In all 38 member countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Reeves says there are now more young women than young men with bachelor’s degrees. Forty per cent of 18-year-old women in Britain head off to college, compared to 29 per cent of their male peers.
That gap is one of many warning signs of a male malaise, especially for boys and men at the lower rungs on the economic and social ladders. “Things are worse than I thought,” says Reeves, a senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution. “I knew some of the headlines about boys struggling at school and on campus, men losing ground in the labour market and fathers losing touch with their children. I thought that perhaps some of these were exaggerations. But the closer I looked, the bleaker the picture became.”
How bleak? Deaths of despair from drug overdoses, suicides and alcohol-related illnesses are nearly three times higher among men than women.

But what’s the breakdown on STEM majors?
If fewer young men (then women) choose college, is that necessarily a bad thing? Maybe there’s more money in the trades
I think both males and females are in trouble right now.
On the one hand, males are told — you are inherently bad. There is no hope for you. No matter what you do, you will always be a sexist pig. You are bad person, maybe you should kill yourself.
On the other hand, female seem to be told — you go girl! You are awesome! You are the center of the universe! If they won’t accept you at your worst, then they don’t deserve you at your best. Don’t hold back! Do whatever you like! There are no limits to you and the world owes you everything. Anyone who tries to hold you back is a bad person, maybe they should kill themself.
The majority of females with BS degrees are in BS.
I push young intelligent men towards the trades.
The smartest toward electrical work.
Tons of work, and good money in electrical utility work.
Amen to that!

This has been the case for awhile. Surprised some are just now noticing it. At my college women outnumbered men nearly 2 to 1.
OK, you made it come true. Now what?
“Forty per cent of 18-year-old women in Britain head off to college, compared to 29 per cent of their male peers.”
Those boys need to crack some books.
Consequently, many of those women have to debase themselves sexually in order to have a relationship while going to college.
men are certainly in the drivers seat in college when it comes to dates.
It states, didn’t more women attend college than men starting in 1980?
Concur 100%
Eliminate the career paths for women which the otherwise useless college degrees lead to and everyone will be better off.
It’s no wonder, they get defecated on at every turn.
Toxic masculinity, toxic testosterone, man spread, mansplainin’, the only accepted man is the one that calls himself a woman and needs tampons for his Barbie pouch.
These people are destroying society and nature.

Christina Hoff Sommers wrote “The War Against Boys: How Misguided Policies are Harming Our Young Men” more than 20 years ago.
It’s nothing new, just getting progressively worse.
The feminists dream. It was their stated goal from the beginning to destroy Men. They started working on boys in grade school by them and teaching them that who they were was toxic. Every program to help students over last 30 years has been aimed at girls and it has worked. And even with that success they are still all aimed at girls. Boys have been forgotten just like the angry feminists have the 60’s hoped. But interestingly if you listen to the democrats and the media, you’d think women were still chattel in a patriarchal society. It will take mothers who have seen enough to change it.
