That you had to be some sort of a property owner which back in those days basically meant you were an earner not a grifter.

Nope.

They considered the idea but discarded it because they did not want the "rotten burrows" of the UK to be recreated in the US.

They also considered having a monarchy.

For some reason almost no one seems to want to praise that idea and say that we should "bring it back."
