Sixteen players who compete in LIV Golf are among the 78 players eligible for the Masters, including Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, Bryson DeChambeau and Charl Schwartzel.

This oughta be fun!

Why not? The Master’s wants to field the best golfers in the world. They will not bar players because there is a war going on between the LIV and PGA Tours. Additionally, five or six LIV players are past champions. If nothing else the Master’s and the Augusta membership are demons for tradition and they do not want to bar those past champions.

December 22, 1894 - “The Amateur Golf Association of the United States—later renamed the United States Golf Association—is formed in New York to govern the sport”.

In 1895, 21 year old Englishman Horace Rawlings won the first US Open. First prize was $150.

Wow, the PGA breaks. Competition improves product, every time, no matter how much it is hated.

The PGA is dirty. Mickelson and Norman know it. That’s one of the reasons that LIV exists.

Folks see golfers out there doing their thing, just like they see other pro athletes doing theirs. They don’t understand how much control the respective organizations have over the lives of these guys.

Not that I’m feeling sorry for any of them. Believe me. Especially baseball players with the $200-300million contracts. No sympathy. NONE.

But, because of LIV the PGA has miraculously found a bunch of money to put out as prize money for the players. All while the current PGA Chairman is in some hot water for taking some liberties with some of the perks that the PGA provides.

My golfer trading cards just went up in value. This could be “Caddyshack 3”.

Luv it!

Thank you Rodney Dangerfield for making golf fun. Hope you are still playing on that great golf course in the sky.
