Petraeus 'Divorced From Reality' Vis-à-Vis Ukraine: Col. MacGregor
Trends Journal ^ | Dec 26 | Gerald Celente

Posted on 12/26/2022 1:40:34 AM PST by RandFan

Petraeus has been defeated in both the Afghan and Iraq wars.

Col. (ret.) Douglas MacGregor was critical of David Petraeus’s assessment of the Ukraine War and said it seems that the former top general is “divorced from reality.”

MacGregor appeared on Jude Andrew Napolitano’s “Judging Freedom,” and was shown a recent Petraeus interview on Fox News. Once again, Petraeus tried to describe a losing effort by the Russians.

“He’s [Putin] tried everything that he can that would be domestically palatable — mobilized additional forces — it’s not going well…they aren’t training or equipping them adequately at all,” Petraeus said.

MacGregor said the kindest thing he could say is that Petraeus is divorced from reality.

“Once again, David Petraeus has embraced this fictional narrative,” he said. “And that’s part of what he’s going to do because he is the product of the very people that are trying to push us into war with Russia now. They pushed us into Iraq and Syria and Afghanistan.”

He continued, “He’s just sort of punching his ticket as a member of the in-club with the status quo. And that’s the status quo that’s ruling us in Washington. They are largely divorced from reality. Russian forces are not poorly trained…they’re very well trained.”

I find MacGregor unreliable in his assertions with respect to, say, the state of the Russian armed forces, as he has not recently been in Russia/Ukraine to inspect the Russian army as it is today.

He has no sound basis for his assertions, or none better than the rest of us.

MacGregor has a track record of being extremely wrong about everything regarding this invasion.

He declared the war over in the 2nd week. He said Russia has conquered Ukraine, the Ukrainian army is destroyed and it will take a few days to formalize things.

Petraeus has been defeated in both the Afghan and Iraq wars...and in the Pentagon by his mistress, Paula Broadwell.

Not passing judgment on his morality. Just pointing out that extramarital sex/romance is a drug as deadly as an enemy army.

As an aside, I add "romance" above because the sex drugs (the array of chemicals released in the brain) can be triggered by something as innocent as illicit romance.

It's better to smoke weed than to mess around with this mixture of drugs. Weed can make you lazy and forgetful, an illicit affair will ruin your life.

I know this from personal experience.

Not only that, but the U.S. Army has not been involved in a long-front combined arms war with a peer-adversary since Korea in 1951-52. An actual enemy who can shoot back with artillery and rockets, who has helicopters and jets, has minute-by-minute AWACs and satellite ISR support, etc.

Since Korea, the U.S. military has always fought with total air, EW and ISR dominance. The Battle of Hue City was a skirmish compared to Mariupol or Bakhmut.

Petraeus only has experience at chasing goat herders running around with AK-47s, with the U.S. military enjoying every possible military advantage, and how did those wars turn out?

McGregor may be wrong but Petreaus or this administration has yet to explain what the US vital national security interest is in a war to place their 100 billion dollar bet (to date) on
with no limit yet in sight. Russia is not the USSR and the global monolithic threat it was. It is a kleptocracy that may pose a regional threat to Europe who should be funding the war, not the US.

Petraeus 'Divorced From Reality' Vis-à-Vis Ukraine: Col. MacGregor

Kind of rich for MacGregor, who has been repeatedly wrong on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to label anybody else as 'Divorced from Reality'.

Russia being a 'regional threat' to Europe is a threat to the US because of the NATO alliance.

If anyone is divorced from reality, it’s MacGregor.

Ukrainians have lost a lot. They’re losing their best young people and still keep fighting. They empathetically do NOT want any American soldiers to die because of what you said.

What they have done is reduced the Russian military to rubble with zero American serviceman deaths.

It’s a pretty good deal for freedom loving people!

Neither has anyone else. There hasn’t been a major land war between technologically advanced, well matched opponents on a large scale since the 1980s (Arab-Israeli war in Lebanon-Syria). The Russians certainly haven’t faced anything like the Ukrainians, and they still overmatch them in many areas. And the US has vast resources, in tech and numbers, beyond what the Ukrainians have access to.

That is a deflection from MacGregors poor prediction track record.

Time will tell who is right. Still, in a war of attrition, Russia will win. Americans suffer with Bodybagaphobia. We lose 5,000 men in Iraq and its terrible. Ukraine has lost 100,000, and they keep fighting. Russia too has lost a lot but they don’t blink—what will happen if we get involved and stray to lose say 20,000 KIA? What will that do on the home front? War is bad but some war hawks want it.

I really do not see anything wrong about General Petraeus’ assessment of how the Russians stack up as a fighting force. Russian soldiers, at least those of recent vintage, are really not ten feet tall with swift sure capability to overcome and trample an opposing force. The Ukrainians, fighting for their continuing existence, are driven by things that are simply not on the radar of the Russians or their leader Putin. The Russians wanted territory, and thought the Ukrainians were pushovers. Serious miscalculation.

Exactly, time will tell who is begin more accurate with their predictions on how the war is going.

It should make everyone pay attention when War Hawks like Lindsey Graham says victory is when Russia is driven out of Ukraine and Putin is taken out.

Supposedly Ukraine has lost 100,000 KIA and untold number of civilians, their infrastructure is in shambles, the country is being decimated in many areas.

In a war of attrition, it seems logical that Ukraine as far less resources to lose, if this war doesn’t come to a conclusion by the end of next year, imagine 200,000 dead and further destruction to the country. Ukraine will be back in the stone age.

The future history books may tell a better story of this conflict, that is unless history needs changing to appease the lefties.
