Nope. I bet in 2014 Putin was even ready to accept NATO there. The whole removal of Yanukovich, language ban and the Kiev’s assualt on Donetsk was a zungzwang where Putin has to either come in full force and become an aggressor or betray the local folks subjected to genocide to be dovoured by right wingers.
Then were the Minsk accords meaning third variant where the lands remained in Ukraine in exchange for rights to the people. The person like you, allegedly worried about democracy can’t say it was wrong.

Russia had zero legal right to interfere in Ukrainian politics just because there was a coup against Yanilovich, just as other countries don't have the right to invade Russia just because Russia doesn't have free and fair elections. That's not only true as a matter of basic international law, but also expressly true under the Budapest Agreement signed by Russia itself.

If Russia truly believed in democracy and self-determination the way they claim to in Ukraine, Chechnya would be independent.

In any case, Russia's invasion in February 2022 was clearly an effort to conquer and annex by force a neighboring country. There is no legal or moral justification for the misery the government has brought to tens of millions of Ukrainians and Russians.

Your views here do clear up the myth that we should blame just Putin and not the Russian people as a while for the invasion, the atrocities, etc. That's apparently just who you are.
