A couple nights ago, I went out for dinner with my son, his wife and a few of her cousins. I’ve known the cousins for a long time and in the past have been to several parties and dinner events with them. Overall, they are a very nice group but certainly are vocal, activated and ALL on the wrong side of just about every issue. Discussions invariably became a situation of me on one side and ‘all the rest on the other’...i.e. my DIL’s cousins, uncles, aunts, bother, parents and most of the discussion centered on politics but included lots of other subjects as well.
Anyway, when I went out for dinner the other night, one of the cousins and I got talking about the Twitter drops (specifically the last one about the White House and covid information/misinformation manipulation) and at that point, he dropped his voice and said “There’s something I have to tell you, I’ve finally figured out that everything I believed in has turned out to be a big fat lie... EVERYTHING”.
“Really? said I.... what was the turning point for you?”
“Covid”, he said... “about a year into covid I realized it was nothing but pure manipulation and lies from the politicians and it was really just all about power and that is when I figured out that everything else I believed in was a lie too. And I’m really sorry that I used to give you such a hard time and I guess I’m having to admit that you were right all along.”
“Great, said I.... You’re a changed man! Now go and convince your whole family that you have finally seen the light.”
