Reaching out here because I haven't had any luck with search engines like google. I can no longer go to the free clinic thats near me to get my medications and the walkin clinics are ridiculously expensive. All I need is a doc to look at my medical history and medications and approve a refill. The meds are really cheap and I can handle the $15/mo cost but they want $165 just to acknowledge my existence at the walk-in clinic here. Appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
Why not just get a regular doc?
Because I cant afford it.
I send my doc an email saying I’m out of a prescription and that there are no more refills at the pharmacy. He sends the order to the pharmacy. No doctor cost to me. The only expense is the co-pay at the pharmacy.
Don’t you have a similar situation or arrangement?
Negative
“Because I cant afford it.”
Wow.
Ever consider going to a free county or state funded health clinic?
Are you a veteran?
I have about the same situation. All I have needed is blood pressure meds for the last several years. Two years my “doctor” wouldn’t let me take off my mask or touch me when doing my “physical”. Every year he had me have blood drawn for to check out the same markers. And then he had me come in a week or two later and charged me for a second visit.
The office charged over twice what I could get the blood work done for myself at the same lab. So I had my blood drawn and tested ahead of time at the same lab and brought in the paperwork. He had a fit about this.
So last year I went back to the clinic that I had been going to. I paid a hundred dollars; a nurse practitioner saw me for about 10 minutes prescribed the same medicine and she didn’t care if I got blood work or not. I thought that I had saved myself a couple hundred dollars. A week later I got a bill for an additional $250 because the nurse practitioner charged for an hour of her time and they added a “new patient” fee even though none of my info had been changed during the two years that I hadn’t seen them. So, it cost me about the same but I didn’t get any blood work.
The medication costs about $80 a year but the completely worthless exams cost $200 - $350 and the blood work cost another $200 or so. I consider the blood work to be more valuable than the “doctors”.
Things have been tight so I do not currently have health insurance. So, I think that we are in the same boat.
No I have not.
Have you checked out Apple Cider Vinegar and/or Ceylon cinnamon?
Not a Vet. Wish I was.
I get my BP meds from Amazon.
Yeah, the apple cider vinegar has a ‘lasting flavor’.. lol.
Does it help you at all? (BTW, make sure it is Ceylon and not any of the others)
Obamacare forced most of those to retire.
How about your local town or county Health Department, in Mass they have some programs for those over a certain age. Also perhaps a local senior center ? Good luck.
