Trapping is hunting, just not with direct fire weapons. The list of things she could do to feed her family is long - none of which involve going to a grocery store, unless all other methods are not producing.
She could be near the Yukon River, but the Frasier does not reach to the Yukon territories. That river has lots of salmon also, just not sockeye.

Where I live it’s two separate licenses, except with the hunting license you have to have documentation of courses and updated safety training etc... with trapping you don’t need any of that extra paperwork, and you still use a weapon for dispatch, if needed.
