A Pennsylvania woman allegedly shot both of her elderly parents in the head before mutilating their bodies with a chainsaw over the course of nine days, officials said.
Verity Beck, 49, was charged with double homicide after police found her parents, Reid and Miriam Beck, in “different stages of dismemberment,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said Wednesday.
An autopsy found that the couple, both in their 70s, was each shot once in the head at close range.
Police found the graphic scene at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after Verity’s brother called for police to conduct a wellness check on the Jenkintown home on Beverly Road. Family members said they had not heard the couple’s voices since Jan. 7.
Upon entering the home, officers were struck by the overpowering stench of decomposing bodies and immediately found Reid, who was “wrapped in a white sheet and comforter.”

This woman needs to be put to death as soon as possible. She is a threat to society. How in the world anyone could do such a thing, much less to her own parents, I do not know. Demon possession is the only explanation that fits.

Jenkintown has a city manager form of government with a mayor and a twelve-member borough council. The current mayor is Gabriel Lerman. Deborra Sines Pancoe is the President of Borough Council, and Jay Conners is vice president.
The borough is part of the Fourth Congressional District, represented by Madeleine Dean. At the state level, Jenkintown is part of the Pennsylvania’s 154th Representative District, represented by Napoleon Nelson, and the 4th Senatorial District, represented by Arthur L. Haywood III. All are Democrats. Jenkintown, like its surroundings of Abington and Cheltenham and their included towns, votes overwhelmingly Democratic.
