DENVER — Former Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe posted on his Instagram account Thursday that he had killed a large mountain lion “wreaking havoc” in a rural Colorado neighborhood.

Labeling the kill “predator control,” Wolfe said he stalked and killed the big cat that had already killed two dogs and was living under the porch of a resident in the undisclosed neighborhood.

Someone with better html skills than I should post the picture of the big cat. Can you imagine this under your porch? Lot at the size of the mountain lion compared to the size of the guy.

LOL. The guy used a bow! Can you imagine that? And stalked it for a while before taking it down. Talking about good hunting skills! I want him on my team!

Not a big fan of hunting apex predators for sport. At least he did it with a bow.

Huge cat. Just as amazing - him lifting it. (Well - it would be amazing if I tried to do that!)

Not really for sport. It was heading into neighborhood areas and killing dogs.

He’ll probably still get death threats, though.

Not exactly for sport. It was living under a neighborhood porch and snacking on pets. It’s amazing a small child hasn’t disappeared with that fellow around. ARE there any missing toddlers in the area? I say give him a reward!

I’m only against it if they’re rare. This cat felt perfectly safe living among humans and hunting there. It was only a matter of time before an old person or kid was on the menu.
We’re better off when apex predators are afraid of humans.

Not really sport. Vermin control, basically.

There’s an undercurrent to this story that is probably not reported, or at least not accurately. The “environmentalists” have re-introduced grizzlies, wolves, and mountain lion in areas where they have long been extirpated. As their numbers rebound they start preying (naturally) on livestock and pets, though also in wealthy liberal enclaves. Example 4,732 of “Not in my backyard!”, they are all freaking out and demanding the conservation or wildlife agencies “do something” and they are getting nowhere.
