The pickled eggs in that big jar at the local watering hole have probably been there at least that long. A couple of those and a pitcher of cheap Lagash beer and no wonder the public area was open air.

I wish! One of the most frustrating things about being there (besides the bombs, the midsummer heat and the sandstorms) was being so close to so many well-preserved ancient sites and not being able to go see them.
I would have at least loved to have seen the city of Ur where Abraham was from, the ancient and thought to be the first library at Nineveh and the ruins at Babil, the site of the tower at old Babylon.
And I’d be all about going to see this ancient tavern.
