Snow Leopard Plummeting Down A Cliff While Clutching Its Prey

Snow leopards, or "ghosts of the mountains" as they are known in some parts of the world, have earned an almost mythical status for their stealthiness and camouflage skills. The big cats are so perfectly adapted to their harsh mountainous habitat that even spotting them against a rocky backdrop can be near impossible.

However, dramatic footage that recently surfaced from India’s Himalayas reveals that even these most elusive cats occasionally show themselves (and sometimes even put on a spectacular hunting display).

Watch this incredible video of a snow leopard stalking an ibex and leaping for it -- at the edge of a cliff. The cat holds on going off the cliff and for what seems like a 1,000 foot tumble down the mountain. Great slow-motion video after the full speed video.

I cannot imagine how long the photographer had to wait out there to capture this video.

One commenter says he saw this some time ago on National Geographic which would make sense.

I don't think it hurts that Mr. Snow Leopard's fur is also amazingly fluffy.
