I am not predicting anything. I have heard many lottery tales of people gaining this fortune. They run out and buy the fancy house, cars, boats and take numerous fancy trips while living the high life. They don’t invest anything, they just spend. Then they end up almost broke.

I am not knocking the guy.

What a foolish and ignorant decision. He will be flat broke, in debt, and filing bankruptcy within a year. The expenses, maintenance, and upkeep alone on such a mansion, will drain his funds very rapidly. May I assume he is also filling the garage with vehicles appropriate for his new “status”?

“What’s with all you people predicting horrible things for this lucky guy? I’m happy for him and wish him well. I also hope he donates a huge amount of money to his favorite charities. That’s what I’d do and so would almost everyone I know.”

We are basing our statements on the history of lottery winners and how quickly they and their money are soon separated. Very few handled their new wealth wisely, and about 90% of those who won such a sum, were either dead, broke, or both within a few years of claiming their funds. Books and numerous articles have been written on the subject and make an interesting read. You just shake your head at some of the financial decisions they made without even consulting a financial planner.

If a $25 million mansion is what he wants, he can have. I can’t think of anything that I would want less.

If anything, I’d want to hit the road and visit all 57 states and and 10 provinces. I’d probably split my time so that I’d visit Canada during the summer and southern states during the winter.

I wish him the best. He’s going to be a wanted man, as every grifter, scammer and flim-flam artist will be after him.

Earthquakes aside, if I had his bucks or anywhere near it, I sure wouldn’t plunk it down on a piece of property in the state of California.

What with the liberals running that state into the ground, the rising crime and homeless rates, the high costs of living, the high taxes, the long list of onerous government regulations, the lack of personal freedoms, the anti-business climate, etc, etc, one is just asking for trouble when buying a house or business in California.

Another story recently about this jackpot

Lots of drama with this 2 Billion ticket!

Posted at 8:55 AM, Mar 07, 2023 and last updated 2023-03-07

Attorneys for man claiming Powerball jackpot identify alleged ticket thief

ALHAMBRA, Calif. (CNS) - Attorneys for a man suing the California State Lottery Commission, alleging he is the rightful winner of the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot in November, have filed new court papers identifying the man they allege stole the winning ticket from their client.

In a lawsuit brought Feb. 22 in Alhambra Superior Court, plaintiff Jose Rivera maintains he bought the victorious ticket at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena the day before the Nov. 8 drawing, but that it was stolen by someone identified only as “Reggie,” a co-defendant in the suit, on the same day.

In court papers filed Monday, Rivera’s lawyers identified “Reggie” as Urachi F. Romero, who could not be immediately reached for comment.

Rivera asked Romero numerous times to return the ticket, but he refused, telling that plaintiff among other things that the two could split the winnings if he found the ticket, according to the suit, which further states that Rivera refused to be blackmailed and reported the alleged theft to the commission and to law enforcement.

State officials have denied Rivera’s claim that he is the lottery winner, insisting that Edwin Castro, also a defendant in the suit, is the proper winner as announced on Feb. 14.

My wife has already told me that if we ever find ourselves mega rich, she wants to live in the Dutton house (Chief Joseph Ranch) from the show "Yellowstone".

They don’t invest anything, they just spend.

Actually buying a mansion IS investing. And probably a better investment than keeping money in the bank due to inflation.
