A mega-prison in El Salvador brought in a second wave of suspected gang members who will now serve out their sentences in the notorious facility that has been criticised over its 'severe conditions.'
The second group of 2,000 inmates were moved today amid tight security to the new Izalco prison, the largest mega-prison in the Americas, which was built to accommodate more than 40,000 gangsters.
Footage shows the heavily tattooed and barefoot men, dressed only in white shorts, being hurriedly moved around with their heads bowed and hands cuffed behind their backs.
The latest look inside the facility revealed that inmates are expected to sleep on bare four-storey sheet metal bunks without mattresses.
'In a new operation we transferred the second group of 2,000 gangsters to the Center for the Confinement of Terrorism,' President Nayib Bukele said on Twitter today.
Footage showed how the prisoners were loaded onto buses, hands and feet in shackles, to be taken to the new prison in a convoy that included helicopters.
They were stacked closely together, each sitting with his legs on either side of the man in front of them as armed guards in balaclavas look on.
The men were similarly stacked up before being led in large groups into their cells, where they are left sitting on the floor before stacked metal beds.
Each cell has only two sinks and two toilets, with 80 metal bunks for every 100 prisoners and no mattresses.
'There will be no mattresses in the cells,' the prison warden - who wore a ski mask to protect his identity - previously told journalists when the project was unveiled.
Former British prisoner Raphael Rowe, who presents The World's Toughest Prisons on Netflix, said the images shocked him when they began to emerge last month.

If gangs are really as powerful as they say, and El Salvador President is really arresting gangland members in such great numbers - then wouldn’t he have a civil war on his hands?

So these are the people who sold drugs their communities. Fought and killed anyone who interfered or tried to interfere with their illegal and deadly business. They terrorized the entire country and up to the entire world. Am I sorry on how they are being treated? Actually, I’s surprised they did not have to dig their own graves before they are tried and convicted. But it is only the socialist that do that. Nazis, communist, socialist as in Cuba, Venezuela, etc.
Actually I was wondering something. Which country was it that would not take back some illegals who were either in the MS 13 or 18 gang while Trump was in office? Trump asked how much aid we give them then cut it off pronto. With in days that country had those illegals back in.
I’m wondering if it was this country because it took several years to build a prison that massive. Even if it’s not the same country, it could be this country does not want aid cut off to them.
and yes these are gangs who were arrested, look at their tattoos which they have all over their bodies. These fools were stupid enough to advertise it from head to toe.
Sounds perfectly good to me. When do we start building some of those facilities here. BLM “peaceful protestors” should be first.

That’s rough treatment but I guess their society is making a decision. Can’t imagine what life would be like in those cages with only two toilets per 100 men. Kind of impressed with the government’s will on this. At the same time, in those G forsaken countries who knows which side is worse?
It seems easy to find criminals in El Salvador - if the person has tattoos, then they must be criminals, so throw them in that jail.
With all the sweat, unexpected poops and pee on the floors and beds, it’s a matter
of time before these people go berzerk and prefer death to what they suffer and
want their freedom. They will revolt. A lot of them will get killed but they greatly
outnumber the guards. Once they get their hands on the long guns, the guards
will be eliminated.
Would be better to drop them on an uninhabited island for life and let them
fend for themselves or eliminate each other.
Is this the prison system chosen to build prisons to house Mexican Cartel members? The Mexican President seems two faced.

Sounds like El Salvador is sick of crooks.
I wouldn’t want to be a guard there, the riots are going to be deadly.
What to do with all these guys? Sell them to Ukraine or the Wagner Group. Send them to the war zone with promises of clemency if they survive. Kill any survivors.
If they revolt they will be shot in mass. They wont revolt, if you use enough force people comply.
