Why are people writing articles about things they not only have not fact checked but that they have no way to fact check?
Isn’t it usually the bride’s family that pays for the wedding? Something fishy about this story, unless it happened outside the US.
But will they qualify for wedding loan forgiveness?
flat out theft by the parents.
If this happened as described, the parents were wrong to gain access to that account and again wrong to drain it away.
These parents may be somewhat like mine were, in that if you have several children, the goals and ambitions of the boy child will automatically take priority over goals and ambitions of the girls. It’s an old fashioned way of thinking, assuming that the girl shouldn’t need to worry about her future, all she need do is to ‘find the right man to marry’.
Some women who wound up on the short end of the agreement, never do completely let go of the underlying resentment toward their parents and their brother for not seeming to give a darn about what would be best for their daughter’s future. Many families still operate that way.
Maybe her brother is a tranny. Everyone knows that trumps everything.
Her great Aunt should have left it in a Trust if that’s what she wanted....
“My great-aunt set up savings accounts for all of her female relatives. She funded the education of as many of her nieces and grandnieces as she could. When she passed away, she left money for every girl relative she could.”
Sounds like great-aunt Karen was a total sexist man-hater.
It is usually the daughters who care for the aged parents. Undermining both daughters prospects seems like an odd choice. Maybe the son is the one who is always there for the parents in this instance, and he is the one they are staking their future care on. That would seem like the only need-based defense. Maybe he married a very respected healthcare practitioner!
Those parents are horrible people

JMO, both rather silly things to spend good money on.
