Well—they should go for this—let me give them some ideas.

1. The spacecraft needs to be wider so that astronauts can bend their knee to the Floyd God once a day.

2. A surgeon has been added to the crew so that gender transitions can be done in space.

3. To celebrate Black History on the Moon the astronauts will riot and destroy a bunch of equipment.

IIRC, the O-rings failed on Challenger because the temps dropped into the 30's, preventing them from sealing properly on that fateful day.

Wasn't a problem with the original design of the O-rings.

Yup. My nephew became a nuclear power plant operator on an attack sub. His entire tour of sea duty was spent in dry dock. He said the sub was in dry dock to have the asbestos removed and have this new stuff installed.

He said the new stuff was not nearly as good as the original asbestos. He said it was garbage.

Yes, politics overriding engineering is a very bad thing. When NASA made a point to mention Black Astronaut and Woman astronaut, I knew they weren't serious about the mission.
