Remember hearing at the time there was a blast severed leg found, wearing a boot, which the authorities never identified to whom it belonged.
I was at ground zero within about 30 minutes of the bombing. The collective law enforcement agencies, both federal and state established a temporary command post about two blocks north of the Murrah building. I was there with most of the LE agency heads when the reports came in of witnesses seeing two middle eastern men fleeing the area in a small pickup truck just moments before the bomb went off. These witnesses were very clear. It was so reliable that there were agency heads muttering out loud how we should nuke the Middle East into a big pile of glass. A few years later, I was asked by Jayne Davis to interview a few of the witnesses she had located in research for her book, “The Third Terrorist.” One witness in particular stuck out to me. Her name escapes me now, but it’s in the book. Anyway, this woman was a waitress at the Roadrunner Bar at 10th and May Avenue in OKC. It was proven that McVeigh spent the evening before the bombing at that bar. This lady said that McVeigh met with and spent a good deal of time with a Middle Eastern man. She was very definitive and believable. There is no question in my mind, from what I saw and heard, that there was involvement by Middle Eastern terrorists. It is the belief of many in Oklahoma that Bill Clinton wanted that angle quashed because he was working on his legacy of bringing peace to the Middle East. That may or may not be, but too many people saw McVeigh with a middle eastern man, and too many say two ME men fleeing the scene in the seconds before the bombing.
