“Carmignani claims three people ‘smoking crack cocaine’ leaning up against his mother’s door the morning of the attack.”
I would not want to try to deal with that situation by myself. I would call the police.
1. Would they come?
2. Would they deal with the issue or just strongly suggest those illegal drug users refrain and then….. wait for it….. write a ticket when the illegal drug users did not stop?
In 2020, London Breed announced that “San Francisco officers will stop responding to non-criminal activities such as disputes between neighbors, reports about homeless people and school discipline interventions as part of a police reform plan the mayor announced Thursday.”
> I would not want to try to deal with that situation by myself. I would call the police. <
In a sane city, that would be good advice. But this is San Francisco (see below). This guy should have had a couple of friends with him. The whole ‘strength in numbers’ thing might have deterred the attack.
Way down in the article:
“Carmignani claims that he had to take matters into his own hands after multiple 911 calls from his mother fell on deaf ears.”
The Police make it clear they do not work for the people, the #1 directive is Officer safety #2 is enforcing laws with the governments best interest as priority,
sadly I am not being sarcastic this is 100% true
They weren’t smoking “crack cocaine” they were smoking methamphetamine. I’m not going to call the guy an idiot for that false assumption but it is kind of important to know what you are dealing with. Crack cocaine is very expensive and not that easy to get but meth is practically everywhere in California.
In many cases like that, they won’t respond, or respond slowly, I assume hoping the problem remedies itself because there isn’t anything they can do. Trust me, I’ve been there.
“I would call the police.”
I don’t think the San Francisco police are in much of a hurry to deal with vagrants, or drug users.
“I would not want to try to deal with that situation by myself.”
That’s because you’re a wuss.
“I would call the police.”
In San Francisco? Okay, you’re a dumb wuss.
L
you would still be calling them a month later. they don’t even show up for a car theft. You file on line.
