His big smile totally makes cents.

The California resident who became an overnight millionaire after winning the $2 billion Powerball prize flashed a wide grin as he was spotted dipping into his large fortune on Wednesday.

Edwin Castro was photographed taking out a fat envelope of cash from a Chase bank Wednesday with his newly hired security team in tow.

The lucky 30-year-old, who was dressed down in a quarter-zip Under Armour shirt, joggers and flip-flops while running his bank errand, added a whopping $997.6 million to his account when he won the largest lottery prize in US history last year.

Castro came forward in February to claim his winnings and opted for a one-time, lump-sum payment.

Yep.

When one hits a lotto anonymity is first and foremost.

He will live to regret his new found fame.

50% chance he’s bankrupt within 5 years. 75% within 10

I don’t think lottery winners can remain anonymous in California.

He’s probably had paparazzi following him ever since he won.

Can’t wait to see pix of his new girlfriend.

Because he suddenly just got a lot more good-looking.

Some states, by law, do not permit anonymity for lotto winners.

I’d substitute ‘dead’ for ‘bankrupt’. Every grifter and hoe on the planet is now targeting him - and not a few that are complete psychopaths as well.

Time for him to go see the vacuum sales shop in ABQ...

I hope he doesn’t have it all in one bank. FDIC limit is $250,000 unless he has a lot of family members on as POD’s.

Even so, you move and you carry a debit card. A debit card with $1.5 billion on it weighs the same as a debit card with $50.

In my province, and I’ve talked to a lotto sales rep on this, once my identity is confirmed I can show up with with an altered appearance to claim the money before the cameras and all that.

So, my plan is to wear a baseball cap, shave my head, and wear glasses.

We are all going to go broke in the planned worldwide collapse of the economies. Some of us will last a bit longer and and have a better time until that point.

Still, this event was no doubt easily avoidable.

I’ve seen people do that here in Maryland, fright wigs, clown suits, etc.; but we are allowed to remain anonymous. I don’t know how often names ‘leak’, though

From what I have learned, the closer to reality you can be with an altered appearance, the more likely that people will think that’s what you look like in real life.

If you go too outlandish, people are motivated to try and figure out what you look like.

Here’s where you can remain anonymous:

Delaware
Kansas: Winners in Kansas can request to remain anonymous.
Maryland: In most cases, winners can remain anonymous.
Mississippi: The state lottery won’t identify a winner unless they have given written consent.
Montana: Your name is not released, but where you live may be.
New Jersey: Winners can choose to remain anonymous.
South Carolina
Wyoming: Winners can remain anonymous or give permission to the state’s lottery to share some information.
If you win any lottery games, be sure to check with your jurisdiction’s lottery office to determine whether you can remain anonymous.

You cannot remain anonymous in California?

I have never won more than $4 so I have zero idea.

You meant he will not live to regret this decision. Something or someone will come for his money and if he gets in way, that’s but a small speed bump.
