I was in a men’s meeting and a young man with Down’s Syndrome stood up and talked about something completely off topic.
We later broke into small discussion groups. Every man in my group identified some trait this young man has that they wished they had. It was a spontaneous discussion, but they were all sincere.
I worked doing fundraisers for a foundation that had dozens of Downs’ kids coming every day to learn what they could. I absolutely love those little kids, just as sweet as they come. I contribute to Special Olympics all the time. My neighbor is a nurse who didn’t retire until she was 80, worked at a different place serving Downs’ kids. She loved them to much to leave and they loved her too.
So, I find nothing funny about making fun of them.
