You can’t upgrade from Windows 10 to 11.

But if you download the Windows 11 update assistant and create a bootable USB, you can install a new copy. A clean install bypasses the OS checks.

Also make sure to update the BIOS and set it to boot from UEFI mode.

I have installed 11 on several unsupported machines this way. And I haven’t had any issues.

Also Windows 11 is just a reskin of 10 with the added restrictions. The drivers and underlying code are mostly the same.

It should perform just as fast as 10

That said, the process you describe sounds best if one wants to do a clean / fresh install, which is often practical & desirable... (My wife has gummed up her desktop beyond me being able to otherwise fully clean it up!)
