Thank God you had a thinking doctor.
I worked with doctors a lot in my earlier career. Worked with some pretty great doctors, and some run of the mill doctors. They’re all out there. We must be discerning.
I have always said that good doctors are a dime a dozen, but really great doctors are priceless. Sounds like you had one of the really great ones.
After X-Rays he got on the intercom and asked for the janitor to "come to the ER with a pair of Chanel Locks". He asked my daughter if she "would like to help?" Her eyes lit up. She became calm and said "you bet!"
I had some crush and burst fractures in my fingers. He had to yank out my fingernails. The two of them had a blast. I knew he was treating her trauma as much as mine. Good guy. He was always in hot water with the hospital board of directors.
Still have all my fingers. Two still feel like everything I touch is sandpaper, from nerve damage. It took about six months for the ones crushed flat to fill back out.
