The Solar Cycle (periods where sunspots decrease and increase) has a big effect on climate. Look up the Maunder Minimum and the Little Ice Age.

The sunspot level is an indirect measure of the strength of the solar magnetic field, which helps shield the Earth from cosmic ray particles.
Cosmic Ray’s hitting the atmosphere create ions and promote cloud formation. More clouds, less sunlight hitting the ground.
The Sun orbits the galaxy, and in parts of the orbit peeks out of the galactic magnetic field.

The orbital perturbation cycle which causes ice ages is probably the simplest of the Milankovitch cycles.
This is hardly breaking news due to climate models. Milutin Milankovitch, a Serbian scientist calculated this more than a century ago. He did it with paper and pencil while held as a POW in a prison camp. that’s why these time periods are called “Milankovitch Cycles”.
Solar minimum and maximum have probably existed randomly for 4 billion years. They would not account for periodic ice ages of the past 4M years.

Absolutely. But for the past 34M years, the continents have been in their present positions, with the exception of joining No and So America.
The issue is how to explain the periodic nature for eh ice ages of the past 4M years. Orbital forcing alone can’t do this, as the same orbital forcing has been around for millions more years.

I think it is the SUV’s in orbit in the asteroid belt that gets us out of the grip of an ice age. Every so often a stream of them drive by the earth creating global warming and melting the mile of ice over places like North America

Agree 100%. Green New Deal is just lining the pockets of the left and destroying existing infrastructure with no real plan to replace the destroyed capacity.
