CNN suffered a humiliating ratings slump during Friday night's prime time spot as it was beaten by fledgling rival Newsmax for the first time.
The cable channel was trounced by the conservative station in every slot from 8pm to 11pm. Star anchor Anderson Cooper mustered just 447,000 viewers for his flagship 360 show - 20,000 less than Eric Bolling, formerly of Fox News.
Cooper's new Friday night show at 9pm, The Whole Story With Anderson Cooper, fell even wider of the mark with 293,000 tuning in. That compares to 325,000 who watched Chris Plante, an ex-Pentagon Correspondent for CNN, on Newsmax.
In the 10pm slot, Chris Wallace - the Democrat-voting former Fox host - managed just 263,000 viewers compared to Greg Kelly who secured an audience of 278,000.

With Fox going into a nosedive after firing Tucker Carlson, CNN is now plummeting from an already low position with their audience, cable news channels given how independent media is exploding might be a thing of the past in a few years.

Newsmax has steadily been improving. In my opinion, it's now a first tier news channel.
And did anyone catch Greta on Newsmax last night? OMG she was on fire. She has no tolerance for a corrupt legal system, and she is outraged over the Durham report. She is so right that the legal system has to be kept impeccable and devoid of any political taint. I thought I saw steam coming out of her ears.

Started tuning in after the Tucker debacle just to see if there is a good replacement. I have to say I've been really impressed with NEWSMAX. I don't know the hosts well enough to name them except Eric Bolling (who is outstanding) but from what I've seen, they're almost like FOX was when it was new.
Some providers include Newsmax in their lineup, but not all. Here's hoping they continue to rise in the ratings and that they'll be picked up by all providers.

"Some providers include Newsmax in their lineup, but not all." If you have internet, you have Newsmax. Newsmax is free, unlike Fox where you have to have a cable subscription. With Newsmax you can just go to the Newsmax website and watch it. I believe Newsmax is available on Roku and Fire TV also.
Newsmax even has an 'app' for Android, and presumably one for iPhone. You can watch with the app too.

I only watch Newsmax and have since the election. A little rough around the edges sometimes but overall a good production

Correct. That's how I watch it. Downloaded the Newsmax app on my smart TV at no cost. Greg Kelly (9PM central) is my favorite Newsmax personality.

Here's the shakeout. The traditional state run media is the new Anhauser Bush.
Newsmax is Yuengling Brewery.
It's a good time to be Newsmax.

Yes, I like OAN too. Dan Ball at 7PM central has a great show.
Unlike Newsmax, which is free, I have to pay $2.50/month to watch OAN (about as close to free as you can get).

I like OAN too, but for some reason, it seems to run a day behind on Roku. Is it just me?

If you want to watch live programming on OAN, you have to pay a monthly subscription fee. $2.50. $5.00 if you want both live and archived material (called OAN Plus)
