This sounds believable. I know very little about drones, and the typical variations for commercial use.
So the smaller lighter models would likely be used in this case.

It makes sense that wannabe looters would want to take a peek on what exists inside apparently abandoned homes. All countries have their Looter Classes, lurking in the shadows.

Drone use by burglars is going to become a problem, imagine the ability to check the yards for dogs, whether cars are in the driveway, which model of cars are available for stealing or parts, etc all without having to enter the neighborhood or gated community until you are ready to make your theft raid.

Think of camping in an area of mostly empty summer or winter cabins and being able to research and plan your quick in-and-out burglary strikes from your campsite or motor home, or car.
