The Lord Fought for David Too, But He Still Had to Show Up on The Battlefield!

Case in point: A child is set in place as the model of Heaven and if men understood this, they would realize that it is this very point that many must unlearn as grown adults in order to be able to relearn, once again, by the Spirit. We must become as little children, and this is what takes place when a man is born again of the Spirit of God (John 3:3).

Very true about David. He had to act and show courage.

I listen to American Family Radio daily and love it.

But I am concerned when people say the only solution is "pray, pray, pray."

Yes, we have to "pray, pray, pray." That goes without saying. But we are also going to have to pick up our slings and walk out onto the battlefield ready to kill or be killed.

We had a minister that used to cite that child passage to justify his totally childish behavior. He was such a disappointment.

It seems like he is trying to humanize God. He is not human. He doesn’t act like a human, he created humans, and he cannot not be understood like a human. But if we humans can create God in OUR image, then we have created an idol.

This ‘born again’, literally means born from above. As we are taught conception is when the soul/spirit is sent by the Heavenly Father. The subject of John 3 is the fallen angels written about in the book of Jude.

David was an outstanding marksman with the sling. He trained and practiced. His skill was exemplary.

And yet, heading out into the battlefield however well armed, will end in disaster if not backed by prayer.

Considering how midweek prayer meetings have vanished from most churches I somehow suspect that people are not praying as much as before and that this disappearance has much to do with the state of our nation today.

This is primarily a spiritual war and while physical action nis also required, IOW, we do our part, physical action alone cannot defeat the demonic.

I suspect that the admonition to pray more is because we are too prone to act without being spiritually prepared.

There’s a world of difference between being child-like and childish.

As I said: Yes, we have to “pray, pray, pray.” That goes without saying.

Fine article and a good explanation of what James wrote. Nothing for a Calvinist to object to there. Thanks.

I suspect that the admonition to pray more is because we are too prone to act without being spiritually prepared.

Or praying, praying, praying, and being thoroughly spiritually prepared, but never doing anything.

God is up there looking down on such people, wondering if they are ever going to get off their butts so he can help them.

It is as if David prayed, "God, would you pick up a rock and chuck it at that giant for me".

Well, there have been times when God did it all for them and told the Israelites to just stand and watch their deliverance, too.
