I can’t fly without a driver’s license (and I believe some state driver’s licenses are rejected by TSA). If I fly internationally and my passport says “William” but I bought my plane ticket as “Bill”, that’s a problem. TSA will take me aside for that one. In short, I need my papers, and my papers need to be in order.
But, if you’re undocumented, I guess they wave you right on through.
