They clobbered the Bruins in the first round, a Bruins team that just came off the best regular season record in the history of the NHL. The people up in Boston are still in a state of shock.
Though a Bruins fan from way back, I always like a good underdog story.

And now the Heat are going to beat the Celtics. Boston folks must really hate Miami now.

I haven’t followed the playoffs closely since my STL Blues didn’t even make it to the first round. But, the Panthers caught my eye with their improbable first round win over the Bruins. They were literally a minute away from elimination, and came up with a miraculous finish. While being a “team of destiny” is a questionable thing, you have to wonder if the Panthers have something special going for them.

The NHL team with the best regular season record often doesn't do so well in the playoffs. A lot of those Mario LeMieux Penguin teams had great regular season records, but under-performed in playoffs. With an 80 game schedule, and generous playoff opportunities, this tells me that some teams treat the regular season almost as a soft preseason.
