I can get behind this one.
No brakes, bald tires, broken lights—what could possibly go wrong?
car insurance rate increases to follow...
I don’t know how happy you should be about lost jobs repairing and maintaining automobiles. The byproduct will be a reduction of safety on the highways.
With the real intended end result being less fossil fueled vehicles running we have here another green initiative foisted upon us thinly veiled as it may be.
Ohio has no periodic inspection, although I think some urban counties require a smog test. I don’t see any jalopies in my area, which is said to be the poorest county in Ohio.
High time to end this. Nothing but a bureaucratic cash grab.
I was forced to get an inspection on my new car before I could register it in TX. It had 57 miles on it. Absurd.
“Got to love this one. No doubt a done deal.”
Likely so, but for people who live in “EPA Non- Compliance Zones” (over half of Texans), we still have to deal with annual “Emissions Inspections”.
I disagree. There needs to be some basic standards that should be inspected to qualify a vehicle on the roads. They don’t need to be as stringent as California or Maryland’s for example, but the basics should be a no brainer. Without them, roads and Texas vehicles will be potentially unsafe.
To the RINOS here:
Why did Florida stop vehicle inspections?
Has Florida Ever Had Mandatory Emissions Inspections? Florida hasn’t had emissions tests or state inspections since 1981 when Governor Bob Graham did away with them, citing high costs of tests and long wait times.
In Arizona there has to be a certain number of people within a 20 mile radius for the inspections to kick in. People in rural areas don’t need nor should they have to put up with this nonsense.
Just like the great state of South Carolina!
is this smog checks? if so all for it. it’s a racket.
It does not end emissions testing is what I heard
This is actually pretty stupid because so many people will keep driving until something breaks. Tie rod ends letting go can kill people.
For those states that have the emissions testing.... That should be ended.
Now you just need to get rid of the requirement for a front license plate. Last year Alaska became the 22nd state to end this requirement.
Vehicle inspections are racist.
In my blue state, democrats love their vehicle inspections which are just about guaranteed to add $1500 to the price of an older cheap used car, thus keeping poor and poor minorities out of the America as n dream.
In Illinois, the 6-county area around Chicago requires emission inspections. I now live 6 miles outside that area, so it’s been years since I needed to go through that.
I live in IL and we got rid of that 40 yrs ago
Mississippi did it a few years ago - I haven’t seen any problems caused by it and there’s a lot less hassle trying to find a place to do the inspections...
