I was under the impression that Arkansas capped the amount of income that child support is payable on. In Texas, child support for one child, if the payor has no other children to support, is 20% of the payor’s (calculated, not actual) take home pay. But that 20% only applies to first $9k or so a month, and there is an argument to be made that so long as the payor agrees to pay the maximum, the other parent has no right to know the payor’s actual income, because it will not change the amount of child support payable.

In the grand scheme of Biden Family Business, 20% of $9k a month, plus blue chip health care insurance, plus a nice bonus like paid daycare/tuition at a Montessori school, plus the mother’s attorneys’ fees, is not even a rounding error.

Even with the knowledge that the press will aid in every way that it can, Hunter’s pleas of poverty, while living in luxurious surroundings, are political malpractice. You never know what story will seize the public’s interest—just look at Bud Light. The Bidens could have made this story go away years ago for what, $45-$50k a year? And probably a lot less.

The issue is that Hunter has already been ordered to pay $20,000/month in child support. This case was a result of him trying to get that amount lowered. Since he is claiming he can’t afford it, she gets to see all his financials, including any non-cash support he receives from his rich friends (like his free plane flights, etc.)
