Yup. I am a member of my church’s security team. Wisdom would say not to naively be a sitting duck. There have been plenty of examples enraged partisans acting out in a lethal manner.
I have abundant faith in my precious savior Jesus, but wisdom guides me to have fire extinguishers, auto insurance, homeowner’s insurance, etc.
Some of the other half rely on a sign posted at the entrance saying no guns allowed. Wonder which will be more effective?
A few years ago CCTV in a church got video of a shooter who came in, walked to the front, and began shooting. In was played on the news for several days. The ones who were fastest “on the draw” were the little old ladies grabbing guns from their purses. It was great!!
I don’t know if any in our congregation are armed, but I always hope there are some. Here in eastern TN, there’s a good chance.

Third was radio communications among security personnel (26%), followed by a no-firearms policy for church buildings (21%).
We have a plan! no firearms. That will fix it. But we have a plan, an intentional plan.
My wife’s parents were founding members back in 45/46. The wife has been going there since she was born. I kinda got wrapped into the fold when we were married there. Our (grown) kids were married there. We’ll both probably have our ashes placed in the columbarium. My wife understands their faults, but it’s like a 2nd family to her. I’ve made my opinion known, but leaving just isn’t a battle I’m willing to have with her.
Half of the men have ear plugs in and the usual untucked shirt.
I was only just getting into centerfires at this time; my brother already had a Rem 788 in .243 which was great fun. This is back in the late 70s on Florida's (still largely undeveloped at that time) gulf coast. Good times.

But are you ‘born again’ ?
We have active and retired LEOs in our services that are carrying. Our head of security (retired FBI) prefers that anyone not trained not carry, but I suspect there are many packing at any given service. Suspect a shooter wouldn’t last long.
