How LGBTQ+ people can protect their mental health during a traumatizing Pride season
LGBTQ Nation ^ | Bil Browning | Bil Browning

With hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed over the past year, both at the federal level and in state legislatures across the country, it’s a difficult time for the queer community. Republican politicians, far-right online personalities, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists have launched vicious attacks against the community, especially drag queens and transgender people.

June is usually a celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, but this year many have found it challenging to enjoy Pride like in previous years. They’ve been traumatized by the nonstop vitriol and threats of violence.

So how can you take care of yourself this year? The onslaught of negativity can quickly take its toll, so LGBTQ Nation spoke with a therapist and psychologist to get tips on how to recognize your trauma, protect your mental health, and show yourself some compassion at the same time.

...

“As a Black psychologist, so many people have shared messages of anti-compassion they’ve learned from their family, often with the best intentions. Instead of giving ourselves permission to feel, to self-empathize, we’re told just to get back out there, pretend,” she said. “For many of us, without the capacity for the healing effect of self-compassion, we seek strategies to distract ourselves or numb ourselves.”

Did he or she go to school to learn to speak like that?!

I suppose it is a type of magical thinking. Sort of like the belief a strip of sodden loose open weave cloth prevents death from a respiratory virus. This thought process is most popular with Progressives.

Pride is a vice, not a virtue.

Engaging in and celebrating vice leads to diminished mental health out comes regardless of the vice.

You can’t protect something you don’t have to begin with.

How can we normals protect our health, that’s the real question.

This (very political) movement invaded my small tourist town in FLorida, got a “Pride Day” proclamation from our clueless mayor, took over the main tourist street and the Plaza. They have a number of well-funded pressure groups and shell organizations that attack weak points.

So we end up being bombarded by their 24/7 publicity.

I read an article that said that now something like 20% of young Americans (early 20s or under) “identify” as gay.

“Pedophilia validation was the end conclusion of the normalization of sexual deviancy”

And that’s a fact.

Nothing will improve their mental health unless and until they figure out what sex they actually are and what sex they should be attracted to.

Until then only depression and a early death awaits.

I’d be more concerned about the traumatizing effect groomers have on kids. BTW, if “Pride” Month is so “traumatizing” to the Alphabet Freaks, why not just make it a day, or end it altogether?

Insisting on being and acting “queer” (radically abnormal) in a society is not a recipe for success and happiness.

There are very good reasons there are norms in societies that people are expected to follow. It’s necessary for peaceful coexistence.

If you choose to constantly flaunt and rebel against them, be prepared to face consequences from the “normals”

The alphabet people have been acting like rotten spoiled brats for quite some time and like a too lenient parent we normals have let them get away with it. It’s way past time we instill some discipline. It’s good for society... and them too! They might learn some self control, which we all have to exercise to peacefully coexist.

For them being delusional is the definition of mental health.

What’s ironic is that it’s been the delusionals themselves who have forced laws that keep people who are confused about their sex to seek psychiatric help.

My advice is to steer clear of inaccurate hysterical terms such as “genocide,” referring to the actions of anyone who disagrees with you as “dangerous.”’oh, and also, if you should rent a UHaul and exercise your constitutional right to freely cross the state line, don’t refer to that as an “underground’s railroad.” Poor lambs, we know you’re delicate (unless, of course, you turn violent and murderous.) Avoiding these terms will help you remain calm

Since “Pride Season” is having such a negative effect upon the LGBT+ community, I think Pride Month should be abolished.

With hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed over the past year, both at the federal level and in state legislatures across the country, it’s a difficult time for the queer community.

The bills are NOT “anti-LGBTQ+” unless you are equating LGB and + with militant transgender activists. We’re already lying in the first sentence and it’s this blurring of distinctions that has so many LGB upset. They are not part of the TQ movement, don’t agree with those aims and targeting kids and yet this stuff is done in their name, using them as human shields and trading on the advances they made for themselves. It’s deceptive and wrong. Also “queer community” when Q is its own letter in the alphabet soup is problematic.

Republican politicians, far-right online personalities, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists have launched vicious attacks against the community, especially drag queens and transgender people.

Where to begin? This is transparently a partisan screed equating Republicans with Nazis and white supremacists. It’s false on its face. No one cares about drag queens, it’s the content being targeted at children and the inappropriateness of their actions. Same with the militant transgender activists and corrupt human experimentation types infecting the medical community. Can’t have a discussion, can’t try to protect people from propaganda and a lifetime of horror in the mirror as they are coerced into mutilation to feel better about themselves mentally. If I said homosexuals needed to have their genitalia removed to feel better about themselves they would revolt. And rightly so. Do they support lobotomies en mass? NO. They are evil who want to experiment on other people it feeds their egos and feelings of superiority over their fellow human beings. That they target the adolescent vulnerable online and children is not mistake. These are the real Nazis.

If a community is having a "tough time" because other people object to minor children being exposed to pornography, live 'performances' of people performing sex acts on each other, strippers, lap dances in schools, child body mutilation, etc. then I have zero sympathy for such a "community".

This is a movie about black alphabet people coming to earth and killing all the women. Crazy stuff.

It makes about as much sense as anything now that the communists have figured out how to turn the joggers and alphabet people against the rest of the world.

From your own but blaming it on conservatives.

You are not martyrs nor victims.

Get over yourselves.
