Can I photograph my finger and thumb pistol and print 1,000 copies to turn in as pistol turn ins? It seems an arm and thumb rifle would be better ROI. What am I missing?
Crank up the 3D printer....
I’m not sure what these “buy backs” hope to accomplish except to rip off little ole ladies with an antique gun in the back room closet that has been setting in there for years. Some of the rifles I’ve seen turned in are 700 to 1000 dollar rifles (some even more valuable), and pistols worth 400 to 600 bucks (and up) and none are at risk of being involved in a crime. The sellers would do better to take them to a reputable gun dealer and get a better deal for the firearm.
An Atlanta version of Kissing Black Ass
Gun buyback = Nothing burger. I think the criminals WILL NOT BE THERE...🤓
Depending on the laws of your state, might also be possible to open an “ammunition disposal” point where people can drop off ammunition.
just saying....
You need a gun just to drive into Atlanta. Several of you bring friends.
Thankfully, there was a cop in the building that knew about these guns, and they didn’t take it from her
Good for the cop in being honest. Many would have said nothing. However, that’s what I mean about gun collectors going to these events and seeing what deals they can find. I don’t mean ripping off unsuspecting naive sellers, but offering them a better value that a $100 Wal-mart gift card. For instance, an old Winchester 320 is worth about $300 in good shape.
“You need a gun just to drive into Atlanta. Several of you bring friends.”
Isn’t that the truth? It’s a shame too since fifteen years ago (pre-Obama) the crime there was relatively low and there was a lot of good concerts and other events to be found there. I will not even go to that city anymore and if needed to get to the other side of it, I take a detour either far north or far south and not worry about the extra hundred miles or so needed to do so.
The location of this gun buy-back though is actually south of the city and away from the major crime district.
I’ve had an unservicable pistol for a long time, waiting for a buy back in my area. If I got $25.00 for it then I made a $24.50 profit of it’s value.
Do the police need a license to buy guns? Do they follow all local, state and Federal laws when they buy guns? Does anyone keep records of what happens to the guns they buy? Are any of the guns resold?
Asking for a friend /s
It was a full-auto weapon. If it was never registered with the ATF, they will take it from her.
Irony: If such an event is held in Oregon (or other states with laws passed this week), there can be no more turn in of weapons lacking an s/n (unless you want to be prosecuted).
Get your 3D printers fired up!
Negative....it was a war trophy from her husband who brought it home from WW2. Those guys were allowed to take things home from the battlefield.
But, after the cop let her know what she had, I think it ended up in a museum as it was in perfect condition.
Sitting in the closet since he came home and dropped his duffel bag.
I dunno. There were several “amnesties” over the years but I think if a functional StG44 hasn’t been legalized by now there might be trouble.
