I think James Cameron said it was about 3,000 m down when they lost communications and tracking and at the same time there was a loud bang heard by the Navy.

Timewise iirc the point at which contact was lost would have had them just about on the bottom.

It was supposed to take two hours to reach the Titanic. Last heard from was at one hour forty five. Assuming uniform descent, that would put them at least 9,000 ft down. Plenty pressure there.

They should be able to estimate the depth the submersible reached from the time the dive started to the time contact was lost.
