This morning C-SPAN was re-showing a program (originally shown on April 29) about the Vietnam War, 50 years later. One of the panelists was former Nebraska governor and senator Bob Kerrey. He mentioned how he was once offered a chance to teach a course at UCSB on the Vietnam War and, after considering whether he wanted to spend January, February and March in Santa Barbara or in Nebraska, he decided to take the opportunity.
Maybe this Nebraskan would still be alive if he had gone to Santa Barbara instead.
