Open for business! Crowds flock to the opening of the 'world's largest convenience store' - a Buc-ee's travel center along busy Tennessee interstate

Crowds of shoppers camped out overnight for the public opening of the world's largest convenience store - a Buc-ee's travel center in Tennessee.

The store, located in Sevierville, is the first business to open at Exit 407: Gateway to Adventure - a 200-acre development owned and operated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

The new site spans 74,000 square feet, boasts 120 gas pumps, a 250-foot car wash and has 400 full-time employees.

Fans reportedly began lining the streets on Sunday evening ahead of the opening at 6AM on Monday morning.

Local traffic officials previously warned that any new Buc-ee's stores tend to attract a 'miles-long line of cars.'

And news outlet Six on Your Side showed footage of shoppers excitedly hurrying into the store shortly after it unlocked its doors.

Both Tennessee Govenor Bill Lee and Servier County Mayor Larry Waters spoke at the grand ceremony - along with Buc-ee's cofounder Beaver Aplin.

Buc-ee’s director of operations, Josh Smith, told ABC13: 'It’s fun. It’s exciting. There are so many people out here ready to go.

'You got the crowd forming about midnight last night. So, we opened the doors and watched hundreds of people flow into the building with shock on their faces.'

The site is now the largest convenience store in the world, having taken the title from a 68,000-square-foot Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, Texas.

Buc-ee’s corporate policy allows men in the women’s restrooms.
Another “woke” company I won’t patronize.

I hope there was enough money in the store budget to pay for a couple of experienced security guards. All it takes is one rowdy customer at the 8 item line, trying to purchase 38 items and acting as though nothing is wrong.
Good luck to the new store!

There should have been a christening, if people still do that on a Maiden Voyage. Just use an empty Gatorade bottle.

If they are real woke, they should soon allow shoplifting, especially for the marginalized victim groups.

Buc-ee’s has been in Crossville, TN for quite awhile now and I've been there. My youngest son relocated to Crossville last November.

With the exception of the number of gas pumps, honestly, it's nothing more than a huge gas station with a Home Store, grocery store and take-out food place.

I know the locals love it there, honestly, it ain't all that from my perspective. And I make better pulled pork sammiches. A

At many huge supermarkets it takes 20-30 minutes in line now due to staff reductions. Not convenient.

So go to a convenience store for higher price but quick checkout.

But if miles of cars are outside and the place is packed to the gills then you’ll wait a long time and that’s.....inconvenient.

While I certainly given them credit for creating what they now have, for those on a budget, do a bit a math, and you’ll find Buckey’s prices on the order of THREE TIMES the prices of Sams/Costco, per unit (such as ounce), along with really cheap packaging that implies that they buy stuff wholesale, and then re-package.

At least that’s what my contacts in the US tell me. After all, I’m a Russian troll, working in St. Petersburg (according to the WW3 supporters), so no way for me to know directly.

In Texas the Buc’ees on I-45 in Madisonville seems to attract a lot of the locals too. That place is always hopping. Must be a date night outing for some. One can buy BBQ grills and smokers there too. A lot of food varieties and drinks galore.

120 gas pumps
_______

Since each pump delivers fuel at the rate equivalent to 4MW, this baby can deliver 480MW of power.
That’s about a sixth of our largest power plant.
The energy contained in gasoline is enormous. Practically impossible to replace with renewables.

“Begone troll! Theres a third world war to push for, dontcha know?”

DAMN!!! I screwed up. The BIG CHEESE*, Putin, PERSONALLY told us Operatives to NEVER disclose that we work in the Krembalin, and now I’ve stated that. What happens now my income, do I have to get another job designing weapons to take out M1 Tanks, or something? Hopefully not, I want a CHALLENGING job.

*actually, the 2014 ‘sanctions’ on cheese forced us to develop our own cheese industry (rather than keep importing), which is at least as good as Europe, so now there’s no need to ever import cheese and many of our 130 or so friendly nations are happy to buy cheese from us.

For those who can’t stand the greatness of Buc’ees, that’s your problem. Sandwiches are getting pricey, but the gas prices are very competitive.
