Great landing no doubt. Last week one of their contracted workers jumped to his death, he walked direct into and was injested into a running engine. Initially thought he was accidentally “ sucked in”, but video and testimony showed committed suicide. A real mess.
Let’s hope Delta stays out of the headlines.

That’s one way to save your family on funeral costs.

From the shadow in the video the gear hadn’t come down. Which means both the hydraulic system and emergency blow down failed. If I had to guess... A stuck gear uplock.

True, cremation is cheaper than burial...

I once landed in a smaller commuter plane without front landing gear... It was exactly as you’d expect: rear gear down, front... down... down, BUMP! Then skiddddd.... Had my 1 yo daughter on my lap: she didn’t even wake up.

I wouldn’t doubt it. I’ve seen skins patched using aluminum cans with the top and bottom cut off.....all kinds of “boonie repairs”. Especially the Marine Corp. They really live by that adapt, improvise and overcome mantra. 😏
At the operational level they do what they need to do with whatever they have available.

To be fair, they did tell the pilot, after the supersonic test flight...

This fine piece of journalism clears everything up...
Upon landing, the plane suffered a malfunction on its front landing gear. Delta’s crew had to land the aircraft without the landing gear.

.....United States Air Force, Air Force Technical Order [AFTO] 781F, “Aerospace Vehicle Report and Maintenance Document” and related AFTO Forms 781A, 781H (”Aerospace Vehicle Flight Status and Maintenance Document”), ....the time-honored “the forms”......if it ain’t in writing it doesn’t exist....
do these AFTO forms bring back memories among the former and present aircraft maintenance “wrench-benders” out there.....??

Sure does. Anybody and their dog could “red X” a plane.
This one may come down to a blown hydraulic line.

Those Boeing 717s have had no fatal accidents in nearly a quarter century of service.
Hail the super-reliable 717!
