Have to admit I never knew anything about this. Had I known it would have told me way back then that Pompeo was dirty deep-stater.

The roots of Neoconservatism began in a mostly Jewish Trotsky fan club in the NYC library. You can read about it in Irving Kristol’s memoirs.
They would have remained an imperialism/warmonger wing of the Democrat party if it weren’t for the McGovern/Carter weak foreign policy dominating in the 1970s.
Their “conversion” into Reagan conservatives was as thin as it was opportunistic. They spent a lot of their energy attacking the actual conservatives who labored for years to elect Reagan. So their attacks on Trump should come as no surprise.
