One of the reasons why “The Who” keep on doing live shows, is because many of the people they employ to help them would be financially devastated if they stopped. It is an odd situation to be in.

I saw them on the same tour. Played the Hotel California album (with a local orchestra backing them), then another 2-1/2 hours of Eagles, Henley and Walsh hits. No warm up band, just a short intermission. I was pretty blown away by just how good they were. Way beyond expectations and very memorable.

Did Pete show even an ounce of appreciation to you?

Actually, no one really did. Just another "pull it off no matter what" day. The only comment made was when I, another of our production managers & the owner of the promotion company, our boss, were standing down stage center watching the crowd come in. He said, "You guys did it! We can do this every time!" My colleague said, while my mouth hit the deck, "You ain't seen the bill yet".
To my knowledge something like that hasn't been attempted since.

Hard to believe they’re still around. Saw them in Denver in 1972 where they opened the concert for Yes and Edgar Winter.

Maybe 1977? I doubt it was 1976 playing Hotel California stuff in early July. Though they were recording in Miami so being in Tampa sorta could fit.

I saw them November 10, 1976 in Ames and they were playing stuff from “Our next album, Hotel California” that wasn’t out yet.

Looked it up. It was released Dec 8, 1976.

If it was just the Eagles, I’d try to go. With Steely Dan opening now I have to go.

Just call it for what it is, the post Medicare, "End of Life" tour........

Or better yet, the "Dead Eagle Cadaver Tour" .....

Watched a video of one of Neil Diamond's last concerts and it was an embarrassment to him. His voice was dead.............

Time for these timeless groups to give it up since all they're doing is collecting the cash for their name...........

An article like this allows a Harvard alum in science to learn something completely new!! Then I can share it with others.

“The warm-up group was a fella named Billy Joel.”

Anything ever happen with him?
Poor name for a performer, he probably never made it .
