On his way back from the NATO Summit in Vilnius, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a traditional video address to Ukrainians.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported in Zelensky’s official telegram.
The Ukrainian President said: “We are returning home with a good result for our country, very importantly - for our soldiers. Good reinforcement with weapons.
It is very important: for the first time since independence, we have formed a security foundation for Ukraine on its way to NATO. These are concrete security guarantees that are confirmed by the top 7 democracies in the world. We have never had such a security framework before, and this is the level of the G7. On this foundation, we will build a new, legally binding architecture of bilateral security treaties with the strongest countries.
Very importantly, during these two days of the summit, we have removed any doubts and ambiguities about whether Ukraine will be in NATO. It will be! For the first time, not only do all Allies agree on this, but a significant majority in the Alliance is vigorously pushing for it.

Russian forces are continuing to focus their main efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka fronts, where fierce fighting continues, with 22 clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces taking place today alone.

On the BAKHMUT front, Russian forces conducted airstrikes on areas in and around Stupochky, Oleksandro-Shultyne and Dyliivka (Donetsk Oblast). Over 15 settlements, including Lyman, Bohdanivka, Khromove, Ivanivske and Toretsk (Donetsk Oblast), came under Russian fire.
On the AVDIIVKA front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces successfully repelled Russian air- and artillery-supported assaults in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske. Russian forces conducted an airstrike near Panteleimonivka (Donetsk Oblast) and shelled over 15 civilian settlements, including Avdiivka, Berdychi, Vesele, Vodiane and Zhelanne Pershe (Donetsk Oblast).
On the MARINKA front, Ukrainian forces are continuing to hold back Russian forces near Marinka. The Russians conducted an airstrike in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka and shelled more than 10 civilian settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka and Katerynivka (Donetsk Oblast).
On the SHAKHTARSK front, Russian forces conducted airstrikes near Zolota Nyva, Makarivka and Rivnopil, and shelled Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka and Zolota Nyva (Donetsk Oblast).
Russian forces on the ZAPORIZHZHIA and KHERSON fronts are focusing their efforts on preventing Ukrainian forces from advancing. They shelled over 20 civilian settlements, including Temyrivka, Novodarivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne and Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhia Oblast); Nikopol (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast); and Beryslav, Vesele, Antonivka, Bilozerka and Kherson (Kherson Oblast). Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defence Forces continued to conduct offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts, where they are engaging in counter-battery fire.
The Duna (Dune) Hotel in the Russian-occupied city of Berdiansk (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) was attacked; a large number of Russian military personnel were killed in the attack.
Russian forces ramped up counterintelligence measures in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol (Donetsk Oblast).
Russian occupation forces are raiding residential buildings and people’s apartments, where they inspect local residents’ documents and mobile devices in an effort to intimidate them and uncover those who might be helping Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
The operational situation on the Volyn and Polissia fronts remains much the same as before.
Russia continues to maintain its forces on the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts. Over the course of today, Russian forces deployed mortars and artillery to fire on more than 10 civilian settlements, including Huta-Studentska (Chernihiv Oblast); Vyntorivka and Manukhivka (Sumy Oblast); and Vidrodzhenivske, Izbytske and Zemlianky (Kharkiv Oblast).
Over the course of the day, Ukrainian aircraft carried out six airstrikes on areas where Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment were concentrated and two on Russian air defence systems.
Units of Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck a Russian command post, 16 field artillery units, four anti-aircraft defence systems, and two electronic warfare systems.

The occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is preparing to switch unit No. 4 from the cold shutdown state to the hot shutdown state.

DETAILS: According to the Russian occupation forces, this is done to switch power unit No. 5, which is now in a hot shutdown state, to a cold shutdown state for maintenance work.
The IAEA explains that the steam generated by one unit during a hot shutdown is used for various nuclear safety purposes, including processing liquid radioactive waste collected in storage tanks.
QUOTE: “The other units remain in cold shutdown,” the IAEA said in a statement.
“However, the IAEA experts are strongly encouraging the ZNPP to investigate all possible options to install an external boiler to generate the steam required, which would enable the site to bring all units into a cold shutdown state. The Ukraine national regulator – SNRIU – has issued regulatory orders to limit the operation of all six units to a cold shutdown state,” the report says.
BACKGROUND: The IAEA still doesn’t have access to the roofs of the third and fourth power units of the ZNPP to make sure that there are no mines there.
Earlier, the Armed Forces warned that the Russians may soon begin preparing for provocations at the Zaporizhzhia NPP because objects similar to explosives were placed on the roofs of two power units.
The appearance of new objects on the roof of the fourth power unit of Zaporizhia NPP was recorded by satellite image service Planet Labs.
On 28 June 2023, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine limited the licenced operating conditions of power units No. 3-6 of Zaporizhzhia NPP to the state of cold shutdown, considering this the best solution in the conditions of temporary occupation of the station by Russian troops and the loss of water resources at the Kakhovka Reservoir after the dam was blown up.
In addition, power unit No. 3 of the ZNPP can also be operated in a state of “stops for repair”, the inspectorate noted.
In addition, on 18 August 2022, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine made appropriate changes to the licences for the operation of power units No. 1-2 of ZNPP, according to which the operation of power unit No. 1 is carried out in the states of fuel overload – cold shutdown state, and power unit No. 2 in the cold shutdown state.

I believe you are correct. Or, maybe at least severely damage the road & railway on the Taman Peninsula of Krasnodar Krai side in Russia.
What I’ve always done here on FR is just skip over threads I don’t care for, such as the Catholic threads. If there are those that love them, great. But these Ruzzia propaganda threads are just annoying, primarily due to the purposeful misspelling of Russia.
I am neutral in this war, as it is a European thing and the US taxpayers should not have to pay for it and there are many brave Ukrainian and Russian soldiers needlessly dying. But this propaganda is starting to make me want to cheer for the Russians just to get this propaganda to end.

Ukraine is well within its rights to hit that part of the span that is within 12 miles of its recognized coastline; it would be a mistake to strike any further east than that (though, the whole bridge would be a recognized legitimate target as the two countries are at war; but, for political reasons, it would not be wise).
