There are several media stories falsely claiming desantis is saying he would pardon Trump from this interview.

You just have to get through all the weaselly lawyer speak to see there is no yes he would commit to doing a pardon.

He said “Yes I would pardon Trump” without actually saying it, which is a smart answer.

“do yo think it’s good for the country to have an almost 80 years old former president in prison”

I would never, ever, never ever vote for that ingrate. After all Trump has accomplished and winning more votes than anyother incumbent president in history, this POS dismisses him by exaggerating his age. I had to look up to see how old Trump is, that is how much attention I pay to Trump’s age.

The two clowns who took over for Rush learned nothing. Only on rare occasions would Rush have visitors on his program. He could carry it alone, and he had the brains to figure out what his audience wanted.

So basically, everyone wants DeSantis to think trump’s a criminal who will need a pardon. Great candidate you have there.

So, you’re reading desantis’ mind, to be able to say desantis is going to pardon Trump?

>>Citing Ford-Nixon, Desantis suggests that he would pardon Trump “to bring the country together.” “Do we really think it’s good for the country to have an almost 80 year old former president in prison?”

Typical swipe at Trump while unwilling to address the obvious (i.e. That Trump is not guilty and is being railroaded). Don’t forget, Nixon was guilty (at least of a cover up). Using Ford’s pardoning of Nixon as an analogy is just another way for Ron to say something without actually saying it. He’s slick, that Ron.

If he’s at the point of “pardoning Trump”, he’s next on the menu of the Permanent State and its Media attack dogs.

I wasn’t going to argue the lawfare part, because there are some desantis supporters here that have expressed Trump is guilty of things...

But that was a pretty simple, clear, explaination.

??? What are you talking about? Speaking for myself and probably most of those who are supporting Trump over DeSantis, we would like DeSantis to acknowledge that Trump is NOT a criminal and is being railroaded. We would also like for him to acknowledge that J6 was not an insurrection or even a riot, but rather a false flag operation designed to malign Trump, his supporters, and any efforts to prevent a fraudulent president from taking office. But that’s a vain hope. DeSantis puts his career first. The truth is a distant 2nd or 3rd.

Why would anyone answer that? It would be stupid to telegraph that you were going to pardon anyone?

Also, aren't all the people who say Trump should be preemptively pardon, saying he us guilty. So far, what is he guilty of to be pardoned for?

Only reason for desanctimonious talking pardons is that he is thinking that if he can convince people he will pardon Trump if he is judged guilty, it improves his chances of winning the presidential primary.

i.e. desantis thinks people will vote for him in the belief desantis will pardon Trump if he is imprisoned.

Sorry.... the ‘republican’ party is dead, because they refused to control the debt, and has shown no interest in actually going through impeachment against the biden admin.

He’s basically saying he hopes President Trump is found guilty of something and anything, because if he’s not, DesAntics has to have some preservation for 2028.

What he does not grasp is the fact that these weasel words have killed him politically. He wouldn’t even win a Florida office again if someone decent ran against him.

This is not DU!

Discuss the issues all you wish, BUT DO NOT MAKE IT PERSONAL!

Remember to use common courtesy when posting to FR. Leave off the insults and flames, name calling, etc.

We are conservatives. Be respectful to your debate adversary (fellow FReeper). For example, do not accuse them of being a “Putinista”, “commrade”, “murderer”, “baby-killer”, etc, just because he may have a difference of opinion whether or not the US government should be involved in a controversial foreign war where we were not attacked.

Likewise, things in the presidential primary are getting over-heated. We want to be sure we come out of this with a Republican president, house and senate. The only way we can accomplish that is to unify the Republican Party. We can’t destroy our own candidates. Whoever it is will need to pull us ALL together. Keep the ultimate goal in sight - Freedom! We are not here to fight each other. We are here as allies to fight for God, family, country, and FREEDOM! As William Wallace said in Brave Heart, “Unite the clans!”.

Your personal favorite may be Ron DeSantis, mine happens to be President Trump. But if DeSantis receives the nomination, I’ll support him, as I hope most other FReepers will.

Incidentally, we are getting way too much profanity. This is NOT DU, this is NOT CNN - (in deep voice) this IS FR!

Finally, if someone says STOP, then STOP! If someone asks you to take them off your ping list, then take them off! If someone asks you to stop posting to them, the adult and polite thing to do is to accommodate them.

Thank you all very much, and God bless you.

"Nixon was guilty (at least of a cover up)"

Before Rush went national, I listened to G. Gordon Liddy's radio show. (He told me about Rush! I'm grateful major.)

G. Gordon swore that Nixon knew NOTHING about the Watergate break in and John Dean lied through his teeth on steroids to implicate him.

Based on what we have learned about the corruption inside the beltway over the years, I absolutely believe him.

To be fair, Gator, the thread was specifically about personal attacks…of members.

In this case, said poster did not attack anyone on the forum. Though obscene hostile cussing should also be avoided.

I think we’re still allowed to attack candidates not on this forum. ;-)

I didn’t see anything in post #5 that violated any FR posting rule.
