Jefferson Starship’s Mickey Thomas on lead vocals.

His vocal on “Sara” and the video featuring Rebecca DeMornay was touching - not only for the lyrics that hit close to home but my wife, literally the “girl next door” had a striking resemblance to RDM.

Sadly, she lost a battle to cancer at 28 and I became a single dad for my girls, 4 and 1 at the time.

Although written by Peter and Ina Wolf, the song was named for Sara (née Kendrick), Thomas’s wife at the time.
