> AR-AZ can really confuse someone. <
I think it all traces back to the post office’s decision to make all state abbreviations two letters. Bad idea, in my opinion.
Arkansas used to be commonly abbreviated as ARK. No confusion there. So of course the government had to mess with it.
Its like making a typo on an Internet URL. You get a "404" message that says somethings wrong this page can't be reached. When that happens with a license plate inquiry it means there is a problem with that license plate i.e altered or fake or whatever. So rather than running it again, the cop just assumed that this frequently stolen model of car was in fact stolen.
Yes. Law enforcement is another profession destroyed by the Left. Just like the military.
Deliberate. Planned.
“Helluva price to pay for being ‘stylish’”.
No, you misread the article: (and your typing stinks too)
The error resulted in an incorrect registration return, leading the officer to believe that the vehicle was possibly stolen.
The fact that there are fewer characters in AR plates ought to have been a red flag. I assume that she had probable cause for a traffic stop if she called the plate in. It wasn’t “OMG. A bunch of black’s in a black Charger!! “
That makes sense. Thank you
Still a horror for the family
Don’t get it. I just looked at the plates for Arizona and Arkansas and both have the whole name of the state on it. Thought it was because of their abbreviations but that’s not what is on the plates.
The problem is when mistakes, honest or otherwise, are made by people empowered with the means of lethal force. Some professions have much smaller margins for mistakes than others, and I say that as a former US Army military police captain and the son of a retired municipal cop from the Pittsburgh suburbs.
Yeah...not to get too far into devil’s advocacy, but just because a cop is minding their own business these days doesn’t mean they aren’t about to be ambushed. The country has largely taken leave of its collective senses.
Heh, I really enjoyed it...silly movie...I did find myself wishing that Sally Field hadn’t turned into a Moonbat. I forgot how cute she was back in the day.
They at least both started with Ar
Yes it was. Read the second paragraph of the posted excerpt.
She profiled in the hotel parking and incorrectly entered the plate, then called in for a felony stop on the highway.
Usually, the Saguaro cactus on the basic AZ plate is a dead giveaway. I think AR has the Walmart asterisk. LOL.
“ The ‘Frisco police Chief….”
I remember, not long ago, when a ‘Frisco cop nailed a wanted man when he referred under questioning to ‘Frisco as ‘Frisco.
“ No one in ‘Frisco refers to ‘Frisco as ‘Frisco” the cop said.
We’d be better off with nationwide Constitutional carry. And fewer cops since as you say it’s so dangerous to be a cop.
“AZ” starts with “AR”? Please explain.
Would have been funnier than hell if the family had said, “Frisco PD”? How the hell did we get into California?”
And it still gets splashed all over the media....if the inconvenienced are black. Thank God for bodycams, huh?
I live here in Frisco, I always joke that we’ve got so many folks from India living here, they ought to call it, “New New Delhi”.
