As the years go by, I have become more and more critical of the police. And that’s because more and more of them seem to have ego and control problems.

Yes, that is a real problem. Some cops are seriously psychotic, and are destroying the profession from within. But most cops range from decent to exemplary. As you noted, the times have changed. It’s not Eisenhower’s America anymore.

There is a huge subsidized housing complex in my neck of the woods. And it’s located in a small town. Small towns have few officers. So when there’s a call at 2 AM from that complex, it’s one cop answering it all by himself.

Bless that one cop. I wouldn’t take that job under any circumstances.

Too many of the “wrong” people. In the past they may have been passed over because the “right” people were available, but the way things are going the “right” people won’t want to be cops so the “wrong” people will be hired.
