In this episode, we're exploring the abandoned Richmond Town Square Mall just outside of Cleveland. Originally opened in 1966, it was one of the largest of its time and was an early example of the American shopping mall. It closed in 2021 and is awaiting demolition for a new mixed-use development

What has substantially decreased employment is mandated benefits and wages and taxes on having employees.
Dawn of the Dead was filmed at the Monroeville Mall outside Pittsburgh. A key reference movie for the zombie apocalypse.
It also was built in 1966, and abandoned in 1978.
There was a large, beautiful mall near me. What killed that mall was not Amazon. What killed that mall was placing a bus stop near one of the doors.
The next thing you know, the mall was a gathering place for every hoodlum within 20 miles.
A friend of mine was a police officer in that mall’s municipality. About a year before the mall closed, my friend warned me not to go to that mall on a Friday or a Saturday night. It was just too dangerous.
We have a mall outside Boston that is heading in the same direction. Every hood rat from Boston wanders the place.
What we are seeing are open shopping complexes. They have great stores and restaurants and are constantly crowded. It’s really convenient to park close to a particular store without roaming the entire mall..
Not from what I’ve seen. The malls were killed from gangs of Amish utes creating mayhem.
i grew up there.
This was one of those malls where white people stopped shopping.
thank you.
Funny, building a mall on a bus line eventually ruins the mall. Counterintuitive at first, until you think it through.
The first shopping shopping mall I remember was in Northern Virginia called Seven Corners way back in the early sixties.
I’ve been told that Seven Corners Mall was THE first shopping mall in the USA. Evidently First Lady Eisenhower came out Rte. 50 from DC to cut the Grand Opening Ribbon.

See the above.
well it’s the truth!!!
That entire area was nice, until it was not.
Why white folks move away.
Those stupid little punk basturds killed Southwyck Mall in Toledo. A shame, that mall had 3 bars...
Nowadays, snipe hunts are performed in the sleeping bag.
Mayfair Maill in Wauwatosa (a suburb of Milwaukee) has had problems in the past with Urban Amish coming in from the city and causing problems.
Teenage and young hoodlums are killing our local mall. A friend of mine was at the mall with his sixteen year old son to get something and they were walking out and three punks just intentionally ran into his son. This guy is easily 6’6 and over 300lbs and he grabbed the nearest one by the throat and put him up against the wall and asked him why he shouldn’t mash him into a grease spot along with his two lady friends.
The son was picking himself up while this was going down. The punk against the wall was about to loose consciousness and was apologizing along with the others begging the dad to let the turd go. Right as he passed out he released him and he hit the ground and the other two grabbed him and carried him off. The dads words to them, touch my son again or me and I’ll hunt you all down and you won’t walk away. Yes sir! Yes sir! Sorry again sir!
“Diversity” killed malls where I grew up. “Youths” and “Teens” terrorized vendors and shoppers. No one wants to hang out and shop where a bunch of diversity occurs
