Lemme see....1977....15 billion miles....hmmm....gonna take it a while longer to get somewhere. But it's main mission was not to travel in interstellar space, but the explore planets in our own solar system which were very successful with many discoveries along the way.

That’s been my suspicion...Many folks are simply scared there might be some life form discovered outside earth. They’re simply not wired for it and many would immediately see it a threat, demons, monsters, devils etc...
