The father of a 21-year-old man who was shot and killed by police as he swung a knife at them on Roosevelt Island over the weekend said his family was “not OK.”
“Please we are not able to talk with anybody,” the grieving dad told The Post on Saturday, one day after his son was shot by police.
“We are not OK,” he continued when asked how the family was holding up.

I am not an apologist for cops. You swing a knife at anyone and don’t expect others to respond in kind to defend themselves - because knives are deadly weapons - or even think this kind of behavior is acceptable, it might be your last day on earth.

Well said. Could it be that the Post was hoping the father would say something inflammatory, thus giving the Post a better headline?
Time to have mandatory courses in schools ‘How to be a law abiding citizen’ . How stupid to attack police with weapons. It leads to voluntary or involuntary suicide by cops. Gotta feel sympathy for the father but his boy caused his own demise.

The press should leave them alone. They are grieving parents and no one wishes that on anyone. Not an ounce of compassion in our media. At least wait until a business day tomorrow.
A few of our posters have expressed sympathy for the parents. I would join that list.
No parent is "OK" after losing a child, no matter what the circumstances. The parents should be left alone.
And the reporters are scum, trying to bait the grieving parents into making inflammatory racist statements to boost a story.

Of course they are "not ok" even if this was a family member that they knew was out of control and that maybe they feared he was still family. They undoubtedly have fond memories of times with him before things went bad and then went worse.
Until they come out and go after the police for dropping their sweet boy who was an aspiring rap artist and loved his baby mamma I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
