That could be why McConnell is hanging on. His seat isn’t up for another 3 years. If there’s a real chance that the rat governor would flip the seat, maybe even appoint himself and have it stand up in court, I’d rather have McConnell “serve” Feinstein-style until he’s room temperature.

It is probably why he spent so much effort trying to get Bevin re-elected despite the fact Bevin is definitely not his cup of tea so that a Dem would not be in that position. There was speculation McConnell planned to retire mid term and Daniel Cameron would be appointed in his place. Probably a deal he and Bevin struck with Cameron being someone acceptable to them both. Unfortunately Bevin destroyed himself. Cameron is the nominee for governor now.

I still can’t get over articles being posted about Fancy Farm picnic as though heckling never occurs and this was a sign of something big happening against McConnell. Whether or not it is, heckling at the Fancy Farm picnic is certainly no sign of it. People are proud of their willful ignorance, I guess.

Look up videos of the Fancy Farm Picnic on YouTube - decades worth are there. The attendees are entirely party activists brought in by the hundreds with two ultra partisan sides heckling the opposing party’s speakers. It is fun if you are an ultra partisan who enjoys jabbing the other side, but it really is bottom of the barrel as far as electoral politics. The general public is certainly not in attendance.

If he was speaking at a rotary club or some normal public event and this started happening it would be news. But this is what happens to literally every single speaker at this picnic and normally the speakers are also taunting the hecklers with the content of their speeches. They are some of the most disunifying speeches made designed to try to taunt and make the other side angry. I doubt any votes are gained or changed...this is used as an excuse for both parties to get together and just insult each other. I guess it raises a lot of money from all of the BBQ sales otherwise a church hosting such an event is beyond reason...

An article from Jim Hoft/TGP showing such ignorance is not a surprise. Seb Gorka I would have expected a bit of cursory research to have been done as to what the Fancy Farm Picnic is before posting something so ignorant. If there is raging hatred for McConnell among the masses, being heckled at the Fancy Farm Picnic is not something you would site as evidence of it.

Thank you for helping to cure me some of my ignorance on all of this. I had no idea I was stepping on a political third rail.

Further complicating matters is Cameron is trailing in all the polls I’ve seen - not by that much but sheesh. This could really be a Senate flip if Cameron can’t pull it out and McConnell has to resign or dies.

I just can’t figure out these solid red southern states that vote for Democrats for governor. Do they want a Chuck Schumer representing them in the Senate? That’s what they will get if Beshear gets his way.
